The Redwood Dance Force team is planning on attending the Believe Dance Competition February 6th and they are getting ready to show the dance community what they can do.

Dance Force has not attended a competition since 2019 due to Covid and other complications. Mrs. Lapp says “it is always an exciting experience getting to see the team perform and even more exciting when they have an opportunity to compete.”

Lapp adds that “it can be a nerve racking experience but pushing the team to perform at a high level is such a great learning process.”

The girls are competing a large group hip-hop routine called “Straight Up”.  This dance was choreographed by Isaac Saesee. He is a hip-hop dancer and choreographer. He has choreographed many hip-hop dances for Dance Force and other successful teams. “The team is very excited about competing this routine,” adds Lapp. She says that Isaac’s music and choreography is very entertaining and creative.

“I think the judges will really like it”

Emerson Pressley ‘22, one of the 2021-2022 captains, says the last time she was able to compete with the team was her sophomore year, in February of 2020.

Pressley says her and her team have been “practicing and cleaning [their] dance everyday in class”. Pressley feels like they “are all super excited for this [competition] so [they] will dance [their] very best”.

Makayla Bullock ´24 says she is really excited about this dance. She loves working with her team and getting ready to perform. Bullock “really [likes] the choreography of this dance” and she adds that the dance is “amazing when the girls give it their all”.

This is also Makayla’s first time competing with this team and she is “excited for the new experience.”

Not only is the Dance team excited to go out and compete but they also have an immense amount of support from the Redwood community. Dance Force has impressed Redwood during football games and rallies and will continue to perform like the rangers they are.
