On April 26, CSF’s [California Scholarship Federation] students from all high schools in Visalia gathered at the Visalia Convention Center Exhibit Hall to celebrate their lifetime status.

A lifetime status is achieved when a student applies throughout the six semesters of their high school years, one of those times being in their senior year of high school. At the luncheon, these students received a certificate.

To attain 100% lifetime membership, the individual must apply and make CSF every semester through high school, excluding the first semester of freshman year. At the luncheon, these members were awarded a patch and certificate.

Students were dismissed from classes from 11:30pm to 1:45pm to attend the luncheon. The ceremony began at 12:00pm, which then ended around 1:30pm.

When Redwood students arrived, lunch was provided for them to eat alongside their fellow CSF lifetime recipients. During the event, both family and friends were present.

Upon arrival, members were then given speeches commending their achievement. Afterwards, students were required to introduce themselves at the luncheon.

Within the time of presentations, scholars would announce their name, school that he or she plans to attend after graduation, major, and future plans in college.

Brynlee Rasmussen, ’22 was one of the two Redwood students who received the Seymour Scholarship opportunity.

As the president of Redwood’s CSF program, she says the experience was, “awesome to just be surrounded by the other CSF lifetime members and [students] got to meet some of the other CSF board members, so that was a really neat experience.”

The Seymour Scholarship was also awarded to Madison Allan, ’22, who says the recent ceremony was “really cool.” She adds, “There were so many people there, people from all the Visalia schools, and it was really cool to be able to celebrate together. It just felt really special.”

Lifetime member Nahir Karimi, ’22 recalls the experience in a positive light. “It felt great to be at the CSF luncheon with all of my friends and my family. The food was great. I would highly recommend it to those juniors who are going to qualify to be a lifetime member next year,” he says.

Lucas Washam, ’22 says he felt the luncheon was rewarding. He says, “All the stress, making sure to get in all the applications, making sure to keep my grades up; it feels like it was worth it.”
