At the end of 2021-2022 school year Redwood announced that there would be a detour to and from the Vista campus due to construction. Students share their thoughts about adjusting to the new route.

Students now have to cut across into the bowl behind the away bleachers then back onto campus to get to the bridge.

For a lot of the students it has been a challenge to get to and from classes. Kylenna Moumdjin ‘25 says, “The detour really sucks, there’s so much more traffic and I’m late to the majority of my classes.”

She says, “it adds so much extra time because of the crowd and all the people trying to find their way through it.”

Roman Villagomez ‘24 says,“I feel like the detour is very intense… it’s also very crowded and congested.” The crowd of students tends to get backed up with only a small amount of room to walk.

Complications have also arisen with teachers with students being late from the detour.

“Most of my teachers are understanding but some are a little strict telling us that we could make it happen and 10 minutes is plenty of time,” says Moumdjin.

Older students on campus have adapted to so much throughout the years the detour doesn’t create any problems.

As a senior Abraham Hernandez ‘23 says, “It doesn’t bother me since I’m a senior, I’m already in the mindset that I have to walk everywhere.”

“It is what it is,” says Hernandez.
