Corner Ambrose Bueno ‘23 is emerging as one of the best lockdown corners in the Valley.
Bueno’s goal for this season is not only to dominate the East Yosemite League, but to compete for a ring with his team.
“One of my main goals honestly is to win that ring and I think we have a good enough team to do it and if we keep playing like we are we can definitely do it.”
Bueno’s dad has been a big help with hyping up the blue crew and getting the boys ready to go.
“Honestly it started a year ago everybody at Redwood started following him and he continued to post and inspire and motivate the players and fans at redwood.”
In Redwood’s biggest game of the year against Hanford Bueno had a game-changing forced fumble and interception early in overtime to lead the Rangers to a huge win.
Bueno says the weight room was his best friend this offseason. Bueno says one of his biggest factors was gaining weight and getting stronger so he could have an advantage on his opponents.
A player comparison for Bueno is Philadelphia Eagles corner Darius Slay also known as “Big Play Slay” as an outside cornerback Bueno excels in zone and man coverage. Bueno and slay also have another thing in common, they are both ball hawk’s they are are always looking for big-time interceptions to change the game.
Bueno`s stats this season have been impressive having 13 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception.
Bueno says “Make sure to come out and support us this friday against Porterville it going to be a good one”
