Curtis Allen has coaching experience at just about every level. He’s coached Freshman, JV, Varsity, Junior College, and even the Division 1 level.

Allen himself went to Redwood as a student. Allen says, “I went to Redwood, I graduated from Redwood, [and] I had a lot of great success at Redwood. I was taught how to be a young man by Coach Kelly at Redwood.”

Allen was not in the talks for long being the head football coach of Redwood: “Not long, not until the position was open because I wanted to apply for the job.”

Allen is excited for the traditions at Redwood including Cowhide and other great Redwood football games and experiences.

Allen wants to set his players up for great success in the upcoming seasons. “I just want to teach some lifelong lessons. Getting up in the morning, working hard, studying, [and] all the things that come with being a student-athlete. That brings every culture together. It doesn’t matter if you’re Hispanic, if you’re African-American, if you’re Caucasian, if you’re Chinese. It doesn’t matter. It brings you together as a brotherhood,” says Allen.

Coach Allen values the family aspect of football, “It cuts through all racial and cultural barriers and it becomes a team, and when we become a team we win.”

Coach Allen is bringing years of experience with him, with his years of coaching at COS, Fresno State, and UCLA. “When you get to recruit, you see high caliber athletes, and when you do that you get to see what their weight room and culture is about.”

After years of coaching at the college level, Allen was able to see what a top high school program should look like, culture wise and play-level wise. With that insight, Allen will be able to confidently push Redwood into becoming a top notch program.

“I know what it should look like to be a top notch program at the high school level, so I bring that to the table,” says Allen.

Other than football, Allen coached track and field at UCLA. He’s helped train Olympians and track stars. “Of course I bring a track record that’s proven to make young men better spiritually, morally, physically, mentally. I’m a winner,” says Allen.

“I would like to thank the board who hired me, Dr. Gridiron, and Coach Wright (Athletic Director). I’m grateful to Dr. Gridiron for having faith and trust that I will bring Redwood back to it’s glory days.”
