One of the 8th graders was Ryan Perez, ‘23, from Green Acres talked about how excited he was for next year at a new school. He said, “The thing i’m looking forward to is probably welding.” During the tour the class of 2023 were able to see the different electives they could take. From metal to wood shop there is a class for every new student. He added on to say, “The thing i’m most afraid of is actually going to high school and growing up.”

Another incoming freshman is Blake Stevens, ‘23, also from Green Acres incited us about his feelings toward next year. He said, “I feel nervous but also excited at the same time.” The feeling of Stevens is mutually for all of the class of 2023. This is a huge milestone for everyone to enter into high school and for some this is happening very some.

With new freshmen coming into to Redwood, the seniors are getting ready to leave. Emilio Flores, ‘19, “I think they are going to have long time here because they just started their 4 year long journey.” The class of 2023 has a long time till graduate but that won’t stop them to have a fun time at Redwood. He also spoke and said “I hope the eighth graders bring a fun energy and more activities.”

Along with learning a new campus they also need to learn their new teachers. Mr. Feehan, yearbook and Spanish teacher, happily talked about the new class and what they will bring to Redwood. He started by saying “they still have a lot of growing and maturing to go but it’s crazy the amount they grow the six months before they enter high school.” The incoming class i9s changing and changing to prepare them for high school. Then added “I hope they bring school spirit so it’s not only the senior dressing up for dress up day.” A hope for next year and following years is for all the classes to dress up.

All in all, most incoming freshman are nervous of what the year will bring. However, a lot of the class of 2023 will go into high school blindsided but everyone will figure out how to deal with the new high school life.
