Redwood Varsity Football will travel to Hanford to play against the Hanford Bullpups on Friday, September 20th at 7:30PM. Heading into the game Redwood has a 0-4 record while Hanford has a 4-0 record.
#70 Mark Saesee, ’26, says, “First of all, we got to watch a lot of film and study the D-line and linebackers, and watch their techniques and what they do, and work on visual cues so we can watch out for them.”
The Rangers have had lots of issues not only on, but off the field as well. Team chemistry is straining the team on their potential performance. #43 Ricardo Razo, ’25, says “We just need to be better. We need to get closer to each other. I feel like we’re all separate and we all have different opinions on how our offensive game should work and how our defensive game should work. I feel like we all just need to click as one.”
#99 Damian Avila, ’26, says “Long balls and running up the middle or outside has been our team’s weakness.”
Hanford’s success is well known and installed in the Rangers game plan. Razo says, “They’re a very good team. Obviously they are like ranked 70 in the state or something like that. They have some D1 prospects, but I think we have a chance to go up there and pull an upset. Every week we can pull an upset. Against Clovis North, we had a close game. Last week we had a close game.”
The wait for the first Redwood Varsity Football victory continues heading into the game. Saesee says, “It’s an underdog story. So we are trying to go out and give it our all. We have nothing to lose. We are trying to get out of this one with a win.”
