This year, ASB has switched shirt screenprinting companies. Due to time constraints surrounding this, there was not enough time to run a Cowhide shirt design contest.
Cowhide shirts have become a staple tradition during Cowhide week. However, this year, the shirts were not designed through a contest but by ASB students.
Alex Ortiz ’24, says the design contest “was one of the most fun little pieces of Cowhide” and he “really [doesn’t] like how there wasn’t a contest.”
He says he feels “disappointed” along with “quite a bit of [his] friends.”
Ortiz says, “it allows students to put more spirit [into] the school.”
Regarding the official design, Ortiz says, “It’s not as cool as past ones. The font is not the best and it seems a little dull. But it’s not terrible.”
Emma Souza ’24, says, “I feel bummed out about it and confused… I don’t like it. I’m sad I couldn’t show off my talent and get the chance to have my art on cowhide shirts for everyone to wear.”
She says, “Although I’m a senior now, I still hope others get the chance to have their talent shown on school shirts.”
Regarding the shirt, Souza says, “I don’t really like it. It doesn’t have a cow on it and just seems a bit plain.”
