Redwood Basketball (boys and girls) played two back to back games this monday and tuesday. Each with their new respective coaches, they have been starting off their seasons strong.

The boys played Porterville and Mission Oak, both away, losing to the Panthers but defeating Mission Oak in Tulare.

During the Porterville matchup, Kolby Howard , ’21, stepped up big for the Rangers with 17 points. The Rangers competed hard and held the lead for the majority of the fourth quarter until the Panthers hit a three pointer with 3 seconds left, taking the game 48-47.

Following that game they beat the Mission Oak Hawks 62-59. The Rangers put up a staggering 31 points in the first quarter but cooled off quickly and nearly threw the game away. Nahir Karimi, ’21, was the next man up in the fourth quarter making two important threes, and tacking on a plus one layup to put the game away. Rangers held on 62-59.

The Lady Rangers took a tough loss against Porterville Monday. They were defeated 43-24. Coming off of a tournament the week previous, they played hard but came up short.

Against the Mission Oak Hawks they played much better. Although they had a slow start, the Lady Rangers started the 3rd quarter on a 8-1 run. With a change of pace the Lady Rangers sealed the game with a 19-6 run.

With these wins our Redwood Rangers look to continue their winning ways as they enter the tournament phase of the 2019-2020 season.
