This week, Rangers will be having a canned food drive hosted by Redwood’s AVID crew. This canned food drive can benefit the lives of many as it helps feed those that are unfortunate and do not have the funds for food. Rangers have until November 21 to bring in cans and the highest class will be rewarded with a donut party. Each student can bring food to their first period class and the AVID class will collect the bags.

This is special to Redwood as it benefits the lives of many. Last year over 2,000 cans were donated and AVID hopes to beat this goal by donating more.

Social media manager Kaylene Barnes, ’25, is a big part of the AVID team as she publices events happening on campus.

Barnes says, “I am in charge of marketing and making sure students around campus know what’s going on.”

This is an important part of AVID so that students can be more involved in the school environment and find out what’s new at Redwood.

Danielle Tavzion, ‘25, says, “The most rewarding part is collecting the cans and seeing how much of an impact Redwood can make to the community.”

As AVID holds the canned food drive every year, it is an important and great experience for them to give back to their community and enjoy the happiness it brings those that are in need.

Barnes says, “The most rewarding part of the canned food drive is watching it all come together and students being motivated to give back to our community.”
