Starting Monday November 8th, AVID will be starting a thanksgiving day to support the Visalia Rescue Mission. It would be appreciated that students bring canned food to help the less fourinte families in our community. The food will be donated to the Rescue Mission. The food drive will be ending on 18th of November. To create some for motivation, the winning class will get announced on the 19th and a doughnut party.
Students chose the Visalia rescue mission to help out because of their commitment to helping the community members in need. Layla Anderson ‘25 ,an AVID 1 student says, “It feels so good to be back from the pandemic and helping people in need. Anderson is also excited for the “AVID team to put a smile on people’s faces and to have a good thanksgiving.”
Mr. Cain the AVID Advisors says, “There was a realization within our AVID class that we are privileged to have a home to go to and a school system…” Not everyone is able to have those privileges. Mr. Cain says “children and families that do not have this same privilege weighs heavy on [our] heart, especially as it turns cold and the holidays season begins.”
AVID is thankful for all donations they receive and wants people to remember the importance of helping others who are in need of help.
For more information see Mr. Cain in room 206 or email him at jcain@vusd.org
