Friday, September 10th Redwood’s Homecoming game takes place. ASB puts so much time into getting things ready for the game.
Redwood’s ASB class is preparing for the first Varsity football game since the return to school.
ASB president, Brielle Alverez ‘22, says that they only found out about “2 weeks ago” that Redwood was going to be able to have a Homecoming game. “Everybody was freaked out” having to plan because “there was a lot in our[ASB] hands”
Alvarez says that she is very excited “to bring more students involved by having a King and Queen.”
Time was spent making posters for the bowl and overall getting traditional things ready for the week on short notice. The King and Queen reveal boxes are being “handmade”
Mrs. Aston, Activities Director At Redwood, says preparing for the game has “been a lot of work but everyone is really excited.”
“The upperclassmen have really stepped up to show the freshman and sophomore” what homecoming week really looks like here at Redwood.
It is not required to wear a mask but ASB recommends people in the stands wear a mask to keep others safe.
Savannah Torres ’23, the rally club president and spirit coordinator in ASB, says, “it’s super exciting that everyone is allowed to be there and look at rally clubs hard work, decorations and planning.”
With Redwoods first football game of the season, there is definitely lots of responsibility and hard work that goes out to those who are in ASB.
Torres says, “we all moved into committees such as rally committee, lunchtime activities…everyone is split up different sections…”
As Torres thinks of what she would want students to take away from the game, she says, “memories and lots of pictures.”
Jackson Marquez ’23, Redwoods’ inter clubs commissioner in what ways the game has been being set up says, “decorating the bowl and setting up everything, which we have already done earlier this week.”
There is so much excitement behind the first game back.
Marquez says, “I’m really excited…just to celebrate everything, it’s going to be super fun.”
As for what he believes students should remember from this game, Marquez says, “just have fun and remember that it’s our first one back, but also be very safe because we don’t want that taken away from us again.”
As for Redwoods first football game back, it’s safe to say that everyone is beyond excited.
