There are hundreds of students at Redwood, many of them have amazing talents; Some show it off and others tend to keep it to themselves.

Brooklyn Jackson ‘25 is an up and coming artist who started their drawing career at the age of 4 and is getting better and better by the day.

“One day I was bored in my car so I decided to start scribbling in my little scrapbook. Since then I have found out it has been really fun to draw so I haven’t stopped”. Jackson

The mediums of art they mainly perform are digital and traditional. They love to do both though they tend to draw digitally more than traditionally. The program that they use while drawing on their phone is ibisPaint X and uses Clip Studio Paint while on their computer.

Most of their fully finished drawings take 2-3 hours.

Some of Brooklyn’s inspirations come from their friends, Youtubers, animations on TikTok or Youtube. Listening to music also really motivates them, giving them a theme of what they want to draw.

Like many artists, Brooklyn’s art means a lot to them. Having pieces of work express how they feel at the moment of drawing.

“It means a lot about my creativity and my well being. If I’m feeling good one day I’ll make a piece with one of my characters looking happy, another day I’m sad or not feeling well the drawing will be sad-ish.”

The colors in Brooklyn’s artwork are very pleasing to the eye. It can go to soft colors to party like neons. The glowing effects they are able to do is

“I would describe my art as like, a free time thing or weird because the stuff I draw is weird sometimes”. Jackson says

Jackson is just doing their own thing for now, drawing for fun and for their friends. Maybe in the near future they’ll try to take commissions as a little side job.
