This week, Arlo Olson ’23 will appear as Hugo Peabody in the Redwood High School Drama production of Bye Bye Birdie.
When he received the cast-list, he says he was “pretty excited” to portray Hugo’s character.
Olson says he the word “diverse” describes Hugo Peabody because “…he often tries to stay calm and composed but can lose his temper pretty easily.”
Given the musical will debut on Thursday, February 2nd, he says he has prepared by collaborating with the cast, such as “…surrounding myself with lots of great actors [to] help me to do my best.”
In effort to authenticate Hugo’s character to Olson, he says, “I’ve tried to go bigger and add new things to the character every time we rehearse.”
Considering this will be his final performance at Redwood, Olson says, “I’m looking forward to just being on stage again and closing out my senior year with a great show.”
Tickets are available to purchase online here or in-person at the LJ Williams Theater on February 2, 3, and 4. The musical will debut February 2 and 3 at 7:00pm, and the 4 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.
