In an effort to better prepare students for the challenges that lie ahead after high school, Redwood students have launched a new club aimed at enhancing college readiness and career guidance.

The Path Club was started by student leader Lina Bridaa, ‘26, the president of Path Club. The club focuses on guiding the college application process and offering students valuable resources and support.

“We help build college applications, reach out to different college speakers, and get them to come into school, to inform more students about the application process and how to make it easier,” said Bridaa.

Her vision includes not only gaining new members but also creating meaningful connections and learning experiences for students interested in pursuing higher education.

Alongside Bridaa’s initiative, vice president Hailey Fonseca, ‘26, discusses another exciting development. “The path club is college readiness and having meetings to plan what people want to major in,” said Fonseca.

Although the club is still in the works, plans to invite guest speakers from local colleges are already underway. “Our main goal is to have a speaker come to one of our meetings,” said Fonseca, emphasizing the importance of engaging with experts who can provide firsthand information and insight.

US History and Law teacher Mr. Adam Higareda, the Path Club advisor, noted the broader impact these clubs aim to have on students’ lives. “The Path Club prepares you for life after high school,” said Mr. Higareda, pointing out that students will gain access to unique opportunities—like conversations with admissions counselors, resume-building workshops, and aptitude tests to help identify their skills and interests.

One of the club’s primary objectives is to invite a guest speaker from the University of California admissions office to clarify the specific requirements for upcoming students.

As students at Redwood High School embark on this collaborative journey toward college and career readiness, the excitement is visible. With a focus on building connections, providing guidance, and fostering a supportive environment, these initiatives promise to provide students with the tools they need to plan their futures successfully.

The call for new members echoes throughout the halls, encouraging young leaders to step forward, embrace new experiences, and prepare for the opportunities that lie ahead.

Fonseca says, “We are hoping to gain people to join Path Club and get ready for their future.”
