Redwood Boy’s Varsity Basketball Season is near with the team working hard and preparing for the year ahead.

Cole Gilcrest, ’25, is a center for the Varsity Redwood Men’s Basketball Team. Gilcrest says, “I’m pretty excited for the upcoming season, we built out a pretty good team over the summer with a lot of potential.”
Power forward Josh Avid, ’25, says, “We have a lot of young stars this year that are going to make for a really good season.” The team is working hard and preparing for a great season in varsity basketball.”
Avid says, “It’s pre-season right now, so a lot of drills and getting ready for the year.” Avid says, “I’m just looking forward to playing basketball and having a good season and hopefully having a better record than last year.”
Ranger’s head coach, Jason Black, says, “We have been working on our game plans during each practice. Our team is young and we are learning how to play basketball to win big.” Black says,” Our goals are to win each phase of the season. We treat each season like a triangle, Preseason Tournaments/league/playoffs.”
Elijah Cases, ’25, says, “During the last practice we’ve been really working on our offense and getting more physical by driving the basketball and getting layups. Cases also says,” We have been working on our press break to be prepared for other school’s press.
Cases says, “Some goals for this season is to have a better record than last year and be successful and make it far in the playoffs.”
