Redwood girls’ golf team competed at the King’s County Club against Sierra Pacific last Tuesday, which was a brand new experience for a lot of the newer golfers on the team.

Emma Prouty, ‘28, shares her experience competing at the King’s County Country Club for the first time.

“This was my first time at the Kings County Country Club. I could have done better, but I think I did okay, despite being there for the first time.”

As a team, Prouty believes that they all tried their hardest to play the course for the first time, and they believe they can always improve.

Team culture also plays a huge part in the success of a strong team. It keeps the team motivated and drives the team to do their best on and off the golf course.

Prouty describes the team as a family, “We love each other. We always want to help each other’s drive for our goals and help each other with those schools, and so it’s pretty good overall,” said Prouty

Lauren Stafford ’28, believes that personally she didn’t think she did as great as she thought she could have, but as a team believed they pulled through at the end for an amazing victory for the team against Sierra Pacific.

Stafford explains that to prepare for the match at Kings Country Club, they practiced at the driving range every day together. Stafford’s goals for the season overall are, “On 18 holes I want to shoot in the 80s.”

Stafford also goes into detail on the amazing team culture and bond the girls on the team share with each other.

Stafford said, “We are like best friends; we’re so chill with each other, and we walk with each other to our periods and stuff together.”

Stafford also notes the amazing coaching the girls’ golf has, saying that their coach is always there to help.
