However, due to its gained popularity, it was bound to receive mixed opinions and a large range of opinions out and within the community.

In a series of interviews, opinions from fans who have loved the franchise since it came out, and opinions from people who are somewhat familiar with it, emerged.

The Five Night’s at Freddy’s franchise carries many expectations, and while some people believe it will meet the high expectations they have for the movie, others believe it will disappoint fellow fans.

When asked about his expectations for the movie, Jesus Rivera, ‘25, a dedicated fan since 2015, says that the movie’s going to leave the audience “dissatisfied because I don’t believe it’s going to give them enough satisfaction after eight years of waiting for it to come out.”

He also adds on that “the movie being PG-13 will ruin a lot of the spice to the movie because to have an accurate movie of Five Night’s at Freddy’s, it needs to at least be rated R.”

When asked about fan theories and how the movie could affect them, he says “I think it will confirm a lot of theories fans have been having for a while, but I also think it will raise other fan’s questions that they will afterwards want answered.”

But overall, he says “I think the movie’s going to turn out pretty average because I don’t think it’s going to have enough passion to have it be made into a good Five Night’s at Freddy’s movie.”

Differing from Jesus’ opinion on the upcoming movie, Nathanial Pena, ‘25, says that, “I’m a huge fan. I’ve been a fan of Five Night’s at Freddy’s since around 2015.” About the movie being PG-13, he says “I think it’s going to ruin some aspects, like the horror and gore aspect, but I’m still going to try and enjoy it.”

But overall, when asked about how he thinks the movie’s going to turn out, he says, “I’m going to enjoy it no matter what, since I’ve been a fan for a long time.”

He also said “I think the movie’s going to try and lean too much into trying to appeal to the fan base, to the point where it’s bad.” He also said “I’m positive there’s going to be a post-credit scene, and it’s going to make people mad. I think it’ll have Springtrap in it.”

Annalissa Lira ‘25, says “I’ve been a fan since elementary school. I kind of got out of it in middle school, but when the new games came out, like Security Breach, I got back into it.”

For the movie being PG-13, she says, “I like that it’s not a Rated R movie because a lot of the lore would be considered PG-13, so I’m glad they’re toning it down a bit.”

She also adds “I haven’t heard a lot of fan theories yet, but I’ve heard bits and pieces from it. I believe most of the theories I’ve heard about because a lot of them are lore accurate and will possibly happen in the movie.”

She says, “I’ve seen a lot of horror movies and they’re not that good. I feel like since this has been in production for a long time that it’s going to leave the audience happy because there’s a good representation of the games.”

When Annalissa is asked about how she thinks it will turn out, she says, “I think the movie’s going to turn out good because they had a very high production for it. I like that they’re incorporating YouTubers, like CoryXKenshin, for cameos, I think it’s really cool because they took part in popularizing it in the first place.”

Ester Calderon ‘25, takes a different approach on the upcoming movie. She says “I’m not a fan but I’m still excited to see how the movie’s going to turn out.” She says the movie being PG-13 “will not ruin the movie. I think it being rated PG-13 is perfectly fine as it is and is great for that specific age group.”

She says “I think the movie’s going to turn out good. I think it’s going to leave the audience satisfied and they won’t be disappointed.”

When asked about how the movie’s going to turn out, she says, “I think the movie’s going to turn out great, just because the trailer shows a lot of suspense and that’s really interesting to me.”

As the calendar counts down to October 27, 2023, many fans hope that the highly anticipated movie will give off the same nerve wracking feeling as the games once gave them.
