The Cowhide Carnival brought students together in a spirited celebration, with games, activities, and cow-print attire setting the stage for this year’s Cowhide game.

VISALIA, CA – The Cowhide Carnival kicked off this year’s Cowhide Week festivities with a burst of school spirit and enthusiasm, bringing students together in celebration of the long-standing tradition.
Dressed in cow-print attire and spirit wear, students filled the campus, enjoying games and activities that not only got them excited for the big game that night but also connected them with the legacy behind Cowhide.

For Priscilla Dominguez, ’25, the carnival was a memorable experience. “The Cowhide Carnival was very engaging.”
Dominguez said, “I loved how people actually tried our game and got excited when they won. It contributed to Cowhide Week by dedicating a lunch to make the whole day something to remember, not just the game.”
Especially for freshmen who can’t go off campus, it gave them exciting games to play.” Dominguez expressed a strong interest in seeing the carnival return in the future, noting how it was interactive not just for students, but also for the clubs that participated.
Cathy Jaurrieta, ’28, echoed Dominguez’s enthusiasm, highlighting how the event fostered school pride and shared history. “The Cowhide Carnival was very engaging because a lot of people got to learn facts and get a piece of our culture, [and] still have fun while doing so,” Jaurrieta said.
As the carnival concluded, students were left with high spirits and a deeper appreciation for the Cowhide tradition, bringing new excitement to the highly anticipated game that night.
“I think it contributed to Cowhide Week because, like Cowhide, it brought awareness of what our culture has been doing for years.” Jaurrieta believes the carnival is worth having again, as it’s “a great way to let [students] enjoy a piece of our culture and learn things about it while also having fun.”
