For somebody’s first, somebody has a last. For the Dance Force and Cheer seniors, there is happiness, but also sadness in leaving behind a place that has been their home for so long.

For the seniors of Dance Force and Cheer, Cowhide is so much more than just an annual event. It’s a chance to celebrate their final year, reflect on the memories they made, and appreciate the people who have been with them through the entire journey.

After years of practice, performances, and countless memories, their realization that this year is coming to an end makes this Cowhide much more meaningful. What once felt like another season of dancing and cheering has now become one of their final opportunities to perform all together.

When asked how she feels about graduating this year, Cheer senior Autumn Flores, ’27, said, “It’s scary, moving on and being on your own in an unfamiliar place, but there’s a lot out there for everyone. I’m just excited to see what’s waiting for me.”

Dance Force Captain and Cheer senior, Tysie Tisthammer, ‘27, said, “I’m excited to adventure out into the world and not have to go to high school anymore, but I’ll miss the games and seeing my friends every day.”

From sidelines, to games, performances, to competitions, they have been a team for so long. And now, the thought of leaving this team, with members that have become more like family than teammates, is a bittersweet feeling.

Flores, ‘27, said, “It’s bittersweet because I know I’m going to miss it and all of them especially. But it’s my last year, so I’m really just here to have fun.”

Although moving on can be sad, there is still so much excitement in this year’s Cowhide.

Following excitement, Tisthammer, ‘27, said, “I really do love all the energy and spirit this school and our performances have.”

As the seniors prepare to move on to their next chapters, the memories, friendships, and traditions they’ve made at Cowhide shall remain a part of them forever. Although saying goodbye is never easy, their final year is a chance to celebrate everything they’ve accomplished and enjoy the moments they have together.
