There are many apps out there in the world, but only a few can be considered a favorite.
While some can be favored for practicality, management, and work, others can be favored for fun, relaxation, and games.
Elijah Jung, ‘28, says that Apple Music is his favorite. He said, “I think music is a big part of like, keeping you focused and stuff.”
Apple Music has been around for a while, and was announced on June 8, 2015, and officially released on June 30, 2015.
Apple Music, along with many other music apps, do their job by giving listeners tunes to match their vibe.
Jung said, “There’s this one feature where it can kind of like merge songs together, and make it flow nice. I kind of like that one every now and then.”
Besides music, there is other fun as well as practical apps students enjoy.
Kaelin O’Grady, ‘27, and Noah Elliott, ‘29, both agreed that the Photos app is the best option.
When asked how often she uses the app, O’Grady said, “Like all the time.”
“I get to just look back and see all the photos of me, and my friends, and memories, and fun times.”
Elliott said, “I don’t use it very often, but I like to use it here and there when I want to take a picture of something I like.”
But, of course, even favorite apps can have annoying features.
Elliott said, “Sometimes it makes me a little frustrated when the image comes out blurry or weird.”
O’Grady added, “Sometimes the memory thing comes back up, and gives me a memory I don’t want to remember.”
Taking photos has originated back to the first camera ever made in 1816 by French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, taking photos with a camera became something more normal.
Today, people all over the world now have access to saving memories through electronics, like the Photos app on a phone.
Sometimes, people have great ideas that they want to share with the world.
Nadya Briggs, ‘30, agreed that Pinterest is her favorite app.
When asked how upset she would be on a scale from 1-10 if Pinterest shut down, she said, “I would probably be really sad, because I don’t really have social media, and it’s the only thing I use.”
“I have this one board that I find funny…when I feel kind of down and I want to have a good little laugh I use it.”
Pinterest became popular between 2011 and 2012, and went from a small app to something used by many people of all ages.
It acts as a low pressure visual-first space to spark your creativity, or even make a practical board for something like new recipes or good gifts for birthdays.
One particular app has definitely grown popular in recent years. Tiktok, used by all ages, catches the attention of many different people.
Ariana Garcia, ‘30, has taken a liking to TikTok as well. Garcia said, “I use it everyday. Typically about 4 hours.”
“My favorite feature is messaging. I use it right when I get home from school.”
Youtube is something that can be seen as one of TikTok’s competitors.
When asked about Garcia’s opinion on the app, she said, “It’s a rip off…because not that many people go on there from what I’ve heard, but yeah.”
Both Youtube and Tiktok nevertheless both have many viewers, and both are great apps to wind down from the long school hours.
Most people are able to afford the luxury of cool electronics to use from day to day life to help us out, whether it be for practicality or good fun.
There are so many apps that people all around the world enjoy, and it’s definitely a helper for us daily.
