Some of the top placers from Redwood High School boys and girls who helped the team get second place at the Kingsburg 2-mile meet are Jack Arreola ‘27, who placed 4th; Andres Nino ‘27, who placed 6th; Scarlett Boyle ‘27, who placed 5th; and Alexa Avalos ‘29, who placed 19th.
Jack Arreola ‘27 placed 4th at the Kingsburg 2-mile meet and got the team 2 points with a time of 9:44.82.
Arreola wanted to stay positive and push himself to his full potential so he could do the best he could physically during the race.
Arreola is really hopeful for how his senior season is going to go, “I always race to give glory to God, so I really wanted to uplift him and do the best I can do with the ability he’s given me,” said Arreola.
Arreola had just come off an injury going into the meet, and he was trying hard not to re-injure himself during his race.
Andres Nino ‘27 placed 6th at the Kingsburg 2-mile meet, which got the team 3 points with a time of 10:01.32
Nino believed he did, “Pretty good. I wish I had pushed forward to break 10 and to catch the pack in front of me to score better for our team.”
Nino believed he could have been in a better mental space during the meet.
What kept Nino motivated during the meet was seeing his teammate Jack Arreola push on and finish the race.
Alexa Avalos ‘29 placed 19th at the Kingsburg 2-mile meet with a time of 14:11.51
Avalos believed she did pretty well at the team, though she did not get the time she wanted.
A setback Avalos had during the race was that she felt the potholes in the run made it hard, and she had to push harder because of them.
Avalos is going to focus mainly on practice and on her recovery in order to get a better time at her next meet.
What helped Avalos push through the race was everybody cheering for the team.
The Rangers’ next meet will be the WoodBridge CC Classic on Saturday, September 18th at Great Park-Irvine.
