The Rangers’ new 2026-2027 Freshman Football team started off their season with an incredible 31-0 win against the Dinuba Emperors.

Right Guard Elijah Escarsega, ’30, and middle linebacker Everett Montano, ’30, share their perspective on their first victory of their high school season.

On August 20th 2026 Redwood High school has their first freshman football game against Dinuba in the Mineral King bowl.

Escarsega, counted a total of 9 pancakes in last week’s game.

Escarsega feels that he ”did really good that game” and was awarded 8 Gatorades to celebrate the 9 pancakes.

When asked if the crowd affected his ability to play, Escarsega said, “Yeah, it was definitely a different type of intensity, and it boosts my confidence a lot.”

Escarsega shared that the first win of his high school football career felt great, and said it was “a big ego boost”.

Escarsega feels confident that he and the team will “run through Buchanan”, as their next game gets closer.

Middle Linebacker Everett Montano feels that he could’ve done more for his team.

Montano said, “There’s obviously some mental mistakes that I’ve made, but overall, I feel like I did pretty good.”

“I made some good plays, and a lot of hits,” Montano says.

When asked if the crowd was an issue for him, Montano said, “The only way the crowd would affect me is if my mom wasn’t there… but she was.”

Montano explained that his first win of high school football felt amazing, and he was proud to be living his childhood dream of playing for Redwood’s football team.

“I wanted this my whole life. I’ve always wanted to be a Ranger” said Montano.
