As the school year comes to an end, we are now voting for our class presidents for the 2026-2027 school year. Our candidates are bursting with excitement as votes come in. Who are these candidates, and what do they bring to the table for Redwood?

Starting with our 2029 Class president candidate, Shayne Navarro, ‘29. While he is the only candidate for this position, he is confident and thrilled for the opportunity to play such a big role in the class of 2029.

Navarro says, “I feel like I would be a good fit for Class president, and it has always been something I’ve dreamed of doing. My goals are to bring people together and hopefully make the campus more enjoyable for people.”

Navarro makes an amazing statement on what he hopes to accomplish and seems to have a clear vision for what he wants to give the class of 2029. They seem in good hands with Navarro’s ‘29 presidency. Vote Navarro because he says, “I’m the only one running, so vote Navarro.”

Along with Navarro, there is one candidate for the 2028 class president, Alyssa Hutchison, ‘28. These two candidates are showing extreme courage for stepping up and filling these positions.

Hutchison says, “I ran for 2028 class president because I wanted to get more involved in school. I want to create more fun activities so the students want to be involved and create better communication systems so students know what’s going on at school.”

Hutchison makes a fair claim about students not being involved, and it would be great to see the Redwood community be more connected.

Hutchison says, “I think students don’t feel included, and they feel like these activities aren’t right for them. So one of the ways I’ll come about this is maybe create a Google form so they can give their own opinions, this will create a more inclusive environment.” Such great reasoning. Hutchison ‘28 wants to make a difference, make that happen, and vote for Hutchison because “I’ll make Redwood a better place and help you feel more included.”

Moving on with our 2027 class presidents. There are three candidates for this position, all eager to earn this title. Starting with Liliana Herrera, ‘27. She says, “I decided to run for class president because I love this school and I really want students to see someone to look up to. I feel like I am fit for this position because I have been in ASB and different clubs and activities on campus that have demonstrated my responsibility.”

Herrera says, “I think it is important to listen to everyone’s opinion, like no matter if you agree with it or not, you want to hear everyone out. I think it’s what’s best for the students.”

Student voices are extremely valuable to the Redwood High School campus. This is a great first step to running for president. However, is Herrera ready to help fix the struggle? She says, “I think at this moment a lot of students are stressed and burnt out with the last stretch of the school year, so I want to create a safe space for students to feel seen and heard.”

Herrera also says, “Vote for me, please!”

Now onto our second candidate, BellaJon Pitman, ‘27. Pitman says, “I ultimately decided to run for class president because I am super driven to make our campus more inclusive and get everyone involved. And also, just to have a great senior year and be a part of planning out all the stuff that’s super fun.”

How exciting for our next year’s seniors! Pitman seems to really have a passion for your senior year and looks to want to make it amazing.

Pitman says, “If I’m elected, one of my main goals is, like I said, to just build an inclusive campus culture and make sure that everyone feels heard and valued on campus, and that I’m somebody that our class can be in good terms with, and just kind of follow whatever I plan out and all of that.”

However, how will she represent our upcoming seniors? Pitman says, “I definitely think that I want, like I said, to have everyone be valued and heard and kind of consider everyone’s ideas and combine them and make something great for campus.”

Now, last but not least, Emma Largoza, ‘27, our final class of 2027 candidate. Largoza says, “I wanted to do ASB next year, and I thought I could take on a leadership position. So I thought, why not go for a senior class president aswell?”

On the topic of goals, what are Largoza’s goals for next year if she is elected? She says, “Some goals I have are I want to include more intermural, like Buffball, but we’ll have, like, more March Madness or, like, 10 days of pickleball, like, different sports.”

Seems like Largoza has a heart for athletics. If you yourself are an athlete and want more sports involvement, this is your candidate.

Largoza says, “I think I am a good listener, so I’d hear everybody’s opinions, respect, and try to understand them, and then figure out in a way that best suits everyone. I can meet with them face-to-face so I can hear it clearly. And I can double check with them, making sure this is what they said.”

Largoza says that she will represent her seniors in a good way because, “I’ve been in probably 10 plus clubs every single year. I’ve raised a lamb. I babysit for a ton of different families, and I participate in a lot of activities, so I think I’m just, like, super invested in the student body.”

All of these candidates have made amazing statements and have tried really hard to advertise their running through posters, t-shirts, and speeches. Our Redwood High School Rangers candidates are all exceptional candidates to represent the student body. Vote now to have your voice be heard through our officers. Voting closes May, 1st at 5 pm.
