A few weeks ago, the FFA (Future Farmers of America) held an election for the new 2025-2026 officers. A new president, vice president, secretary, reporter, sentinel, and treasurer were elected.

On April 11th, 2025, on the Redwood FFA Instagram, the 2025-2026 officer team was announced.

The President is Breann Branch, ‘27.

The Vice President is Emily Dean, ‘26.

The Secretary is Emerson Louquet, ‘26.

The Reporter is Colbie Kelley, ‘27.

The Sentinel is Axl Menard, ‘27.

And finally, the Treasurer is Fenton Menard, ‘27.

The process to even get elected is very clearly planned, everyone campaigns the same way so they all have the same chances for whichever position they want to be in.

First they make a poster with their name on it, what position they want to be in, and that their fellow FFA members should vote for them. This poster is put only in front of the Ag building for obvious reasons. Next they go through an interview process with three people and their Ag teacher.

The Ag teachers at Redwood are Mr. John Coon, who is the Agricultural Mechanics 1-4 teacher, and Ms. Citalli Veloz, who teaches Plant and Soil Science, Floral Design, and Intro Animal and Plant Physics.

Members can actually get credit for just participating. Half comes from the poster and the other half is from the interview. But we’ll just focus on the ones who ended up winning.

The main goal across all these new officers is to get more people involved. They feel that everyone in FFA are only people who have always been a part of it. They all want to get some fresh faces out there and get more people interested in FFA.

Both the secretary and reporter state that using social media would be the main way they would hope to get more people involved.

Louquet said, “This year we did kind of a good job [promoting on social media], but I definitely think we can do a lot more and get more people involved and find what they can do [in FFA].”

Dean said, “I hope we can get people from agriculture careers to do workshops and talk to kids and get them interested. That would also allow the kids to ask them questions and see what’s in their future in agriculture after high school.” She also wishes to get more parents involved by reaching out to them on social media.

Louquet explains about her position, and said, “During meetings I take notes, and I preside with other secretaries at other high schools. That’s what I know though. I can’t wait to learn more about this position as I work!”

Kelley agrees with this notion, and said, “I’m really excited to be in this position and learn more about it!”

Branch said, “I feel as if the hard work I put into our chapter this year is being rewarded. Even though I have the title of president, I feel more honored to be a part of this team and get to know them better.”

Fenton Menard said, “My personal plan for next year is to lead by example for my fellow FFA members.”

It seems like the next year of the Redwood FFA chapter will bring in some fresh faces. It’s definitely something to look forward to.

His twin brother, Axl Menard, shared a similar goal. He said, “I hope to provide a new face of leadership in our FFA chapter.”
