Students who wanted to be a part of the Link Crew Class will be interviewed by Mrs. Braun, the advisor of Link Crew.

Link Crew is an engaging class and club specifically designed to help freshmen acclimate to life at Redwood High School. High school takes getting used to, so Link Crew’s goal is to “have freshmen get introduced to the school, have connections socially and academically,” says Mrs. Braun, “so that we can have responsible Rangers.”

Alexis Bui, ’25, who is a Link Crew member, shares what students would do in the Link Crew Class. She says, “Link Crew runs events like the haunted house, the icebreaker dance, and the football tailgate.”

Link Crew members are dedicated to offering guidance and assistance to freshmen as they navigate the school environment, helping them feel more comfortable and connected as they transition into their new surroundings.

Isabella Rojas Mendoza, ‘27, is a first-year Link Crew member. When asked her thoughts about Link Crew, she said, “They are important because they help freshmen connect and give them opportunities to make new friends and memories.”

The difference between the Link Crew Class and the Link Crew club is that the class focuses more on organization. The class organizes lunchtime events, such as their recent activity of bedazzling sunglasses. If there is extra help needed, then the Link Crew club then is involved.

The club meets monthly and they are given seven freshmen to mentor, as are the students who are a part of the class.

Mendoza has so far enjoyed participating in Link Crew. She says, “Link Crew has made an impact on me by allowing me to interact with new people whom I wouldn’t have met before. It’s given me the opportunity to help people feel more comfortable in their first year of high school, and being able to do that for people is the highlight of Link Crew for me.”

Socializing and teamwork is a huge part of being in Link Crew, so students who don’t mind interacting with others will be a valuable asset in Link Crew’s team.

When applying to either the class or the club, Link Crew looks for certain characteristics in students. The type of students that should apply are “students who care about our campus, students who care about helping other people, students who are willing to put themselves out there a little bit,” says Mrs. Braun.

Faith Avila, ’27, another Link Crew member, says, “Just be yourself!”
