Students share their opinions on who they think is the most honest teacher on campus, and why they believe that.
Natalie Ocana, ’27, when asked who she thinks the most honest teacher on campus is and why, she said, “Mr. [Adam] Higareda, I would say he really connects with us. He’s my law academy teacher. I feel like he really understands one another and what we’re going through, and he takes his teaching skills to help us with our grades and in life.”

When Ocana was asked what someone had said before that really stuck with her, she said, “Probably that our dedication in our work will reflect in the long run in our life.”
“The most honest teacher probably is Mr. Higareda,” said Haleigh Sasin, ’26.
“Every day, the background of his computer is some quote, ‘like the first step to a good day is making your bed,’ or something like that. He has it up there every day, and it’s just kind of like, if you have a good outlook on your day, then you’re going to have a good day,” said Sasin.
When Mr. Higareda was asked what are some of the honest things he has told his students in class, he said, “Cell phones are causing them anxiety. Sometimes they do just suck at school, and if you use Al (Artificial Intelligence) for all your assignments, you’re not bad at taking tests, you’re just dumb.”

When asked if he has ever heard honest feedback from his students, Mr. Higareda said, “I would say I agree sometimes headphones are better for focus, so if students wear them in class, I would agree that sometimes they need them. I would say that students are correct when they say sometimes that they can’t focus in class because sometimes it’s a bad day, sometimes that’s a normal thing that should be acceptable.”
The most honest things we hear people say in a classroom can teach us more than an actual lesson, and those are the things we are going to remember.
“Mr. Coon, he’s always good with the students,“ said Sammy Estrada, ’28, when asked who he thinks the most honest teacher on campus is.
When she was asked who she thinks the most honest teacher on campus is Kenzi Bacon, ’25, said, “Probably Mr. Fuller or Mr. Coon. I would say Mr. Fuller is really honest about our economic state. We learn a lot about that.”
Sometimes, the truths we come across aren’t always expected, but they carry an important message that needs to be shared.
Asher Keck, ’28, said, “Mr. Jones [is the most honest teacher], because he’s straight up with people.”

Melisa Mercado, ’27, said, “Honest teacher, probably my math teacher, Mr. Dixon. He tells us the things straight up.”
“I think Henshaw is probably one of them. Henshaws is a pretty honest teacher, he’s really straightforward when it comes to what’s going to happen,” said Sydney Kakeu, ’26, when asked who he thinks the most honest teacher on campus is.
Honesty is hard to hear, but those honest moments when people are straight up with us can teach us something memorable.
When asked what is something that someone has really stuck with her, Keira Kirby, ’26, said, “I had a friend say people only associate themselves with you when they need something, or when it’s convenient for them, so that stuck with me.”
