Prior to the new King and Queen being announced, the former winners share their thoughts on passing down their crowns.

Lexi Ellis, ’23, said “I’m so excited. I miss high school so much and being here is so nostalgic.”

Ellis shared that she believed all of the girls had an equal shot at winning and said, “I’m really excited to figure out who wins.”

As a former football player himself, Noe Viveros, ’23, said, “I think it’s going to be really close but I’m pretty bias so I want my boy Moses Burk to win.”

Bullock crowned at halftime

Makayla Bullock, ‘24, was crowned Homecoming Queen for the 2023 school year. When asked how she felt going into the night she said, “I was extremely nervous and anxious.” Seeing her star light up left Bullock completely shocked. She says, “It was the best feeling ever.”

As for preparing for the evening Bullock says, “I got my votes in and told myself that even if I don’t win it will be okay, even the experience was great.”

Since her Freshman year, Bullock has been inspired by seeing the past Homecoming Queens crowned. She says, “I thought that it would be great to win so just to accomplish that was amazing.”

Burk’s star signalling win

Our 2023 King Moses Burk, ’24, says, “I was really looking forward to the game and at Halftime I was hoping I would get Homecoming and I did.”

Burk is thrilled by the crowd and says, “It feels good. I got my mom up there cheering for me, and everybody in the stands were all hype so it was fun.”

Burk describes his Homecoming adventure as “spur of the moment” and says that he did it for his mom and knows he made her proud.

Watch the Homecoming Alumni and winners express their excitement toward their crowns.

Imagine spending your days talking about ideas that you love with people you genuinely care about. Not bad, that. I advise some journalists and teach some literature at Redwood High School in Visalia, Ca.
