Every year, on the Tuesday of finals week, Redwood Link Crew hosts Cookies and Cram. This is an event where students can come to school between 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and get tutored from select teachers of each subject. Cookies and milk are also available to students at the beginning of the night.
Alexandria Zermeno, ‘18, has gone every year and plans to go this year. Zermeno said, “It’s a good time to just pick a spot and get to work. It’s also nice because if you have a question, you can get it answered pretty quickly.”
Along with studying, students can be seen relaxing and trying to de-stress before the final exams start. Zermeno said, “I’ve came with colored pencils and a coloring book and just hung out with some friends.”
Mahak Rajwani, ‘19, has attended Cookies and Cram the past two years. Rajwani said, “ It is beneficial because it gives you an insight from other teachers, not just the ones you’re used to.” This year, Rajwani will most likely be using the two hours to study for her math final. She will also meet in groups with other students to help each other study.
As a freshman, this will be the first chance for Edgar Jaurrieta, ‘21, to participate in a Cookies and Cram, and it will also be his first experience with high school finals. Jaurrieta said, “I think it will be beneficial because you can study for classes while getting free food, and who doesn’t like free food?”
Jaurrieta will be using the time to study for his final for English. In regards to other methods of studying, Jaurrieta said, “I’m not really preparing for finals, I just use a lot of study guides.”
Cookies and Cram will be held in the Academic Building on December 12, starting at 5:30 pm. Students are encouraged to join teachers for extra help before finals and will receive free cookies and milk.
