On November 9th, Redwood girls waterpolo faced Monache in the Division 2 CIF Valley game. Redwood won the game 8-7 after two overtimes.
Redwood was in a long and stressful game. Redwood was down 0-3 in the first and then scored goal after goal. By the end of the 4th, Redwood was tied 6-6 with Monache. They then played in 2 extra quarters and still ended up tied 7-7. The girls then went into sudden death. With 20 seconds left in the 7th quarter, Alex Roberts, ’20, scored the winning goal to put Redwood ahead 8-7 and win the Valley game against Monache.
The whole game was stressful for not only the players but the crowd too. Sophie Terry, ’18, said, ” The game was very stressful.”
Katie Nelson, ’18, is Redwood’s Varsity goalie. She made some amazing blocks which helped Redwood get to where they got in playoffs. She has some amazing defensive skills in the goal.
Redwood started off the game with their starters Skylar Ford, ’20, Roberts , Terry, Emma Peters, ’19, Alyssa Harrington, ’18, Kohl Belanger, ’18, and Nelson. Both Ford and Peters lead the stats with 3 goals each and Harrington and Roberts with 1 goal each.
Peters said, “Our season is not over yet either! We are seeded 4th in state and will be competing with other D2 champions. We play our first state game on Tuesday [November 14] at Golden West at 5:00.”
