With Halloween around the corner, thriller TV shows are rapidly increasing in popularity. These top thriller TV shows are Redwood Students favorites. Read on, if you can handle the scare.
The Walking Dead is about how Sheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma, to learn the world is in ruins, and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive. David Hipskind, ‘21, says he enjoys The Walking Dead because, “I like the plot and all the guns on the show.”
Scream is situated in the fictional town of Lakewood, where a string of murders take place. At the center of these murders is Emma Duval,a teenage girl who is somehow tied to the town’s dark past. Marcus Hernandez, ‘21, says , “I enjoy watching Scream because I like the suspense and the jump scares.” He also adds that he likes how each character deals with problems in an unique way.
American Horror Story is an anthology series centering on different characters and locations, including a house with a murderous past, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, a hotel, a possessed farmhouse, and a cult. Brandon Teela, ‘21, says, “I like American Horror Story because of how terrifying it is and how real they make it seem.” He added that he likes how it gives him a rush of adrenaline.
Bates Motel is a contemporary prequel to Psycho, giving a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years, and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is. Ryleigh Plazola, ‘21, says she enjoys Bates Motel because she likes the story line and the fact that the mom kills a lot of people without realizing it.
Freakish is about a group of high schoolers who struggle against predatory mutants who have taken over their town after a chemical plant meltdown. Janell Crabtree, ‘20, says she likes to watch Freakish because “It is high school based and the reality of an apocalypse.”
