On Friday, May 6th the Redwood Rangers Baseball team will be battling against Mt. Whitney in the CIF Central Section Division II Championship
The rangers defeated #13 Edison HS to advance in the CIF Central Section Division playoffs. The season has been great for the rangers they have had a 27-3.
Cooper Allen ‘17 said, “It’s going to be awesome that I’m going to be at Rec park with brothers for one last ride.”
Allen believes the whole team needs to be energized throughout the game and need to play the best game of their lives.
Whitney got a win against the Rangers in their past game in league but the rangers are ready to give it their all in the field and take the victory. Whitney and Redwood have had a known rivalry for years, this Friday’s game is being considered the “Spring Cowhide”.
Coach Ryan Blair said, “Coaching is about getting these boys to trust in their preparation and recognize that it is a game of baseball anything can happen but realize that the desire to win can help conquer all, you’re never gonna be perfect but you can always pursue perfection.”
The boys baseball team started at 19-0 which is a record in baseball in ranger baseball. This year it will be the first years for many of the baseball players.
Chris Gonzalez ‘17 said, “ I’m super excited and can’t wait to play one last game with all my friends. It is extra special getting to play our rival Whitney.”
The team expects to have a huge packed house considering how big the Redwood and Whitney rivalry is. The boys feed of the enthusiasm of the fans, if the place is packed and blue it will rise the boys’ excitement for the win. Make sure to go support the rangers this Friday night tickets are limited but may be reserved. It is $10 grandstand and $6 general at the Rawhide Stadium.
