The much anticipated movie Split, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, first came out in theatres on January 20, 2017. The trailer and previews that caught everyone’s attention depicts a man who has dissociative personality disorder kidnapping three teenage girls and taking them to an unknown location. Their only chance of escaping is to conversate with each personality and find its weakness in hopes of distracting it long enough to flee before another personality, known as the Beast, shows itself.
The movie itself is a whirlwind from beginning to end. What makes this movie so great is that the creativity of the plot is what truly lured in so many excited viewers. There are no Oscar winning actors within this movie that made people want to see it. It’s great to see the cast of this movie getting recognition for an amazing performance not just because they are well known.
Throughout this movie, in reality there are only 3 main, actually present, characters and one happens to be composed of 26 different personalities. The dynamics within this movie are phenomenal because the whole idea behind the plot is so creative and intriguing.
At the end of the movie there is a huge plot twist, which seems like there is a sequel in the making. I definitely recommended this movie to anyone interested in horror films that keep them on the edge of their seat. Many say they aren’t willing to watch this movie because it “seems too scary”, but the beauty is that even though there are some jump scare scenes the story line is at the peak of importance, and anyone watching won’t be able to turn away from the screen.
