For the past few months cast members, directors, choreographers, and stage manager have been working hard on the upcoming musical Damn Yankees.
Megan Muller, ‘17, is the stage manager for the musical. Typically, the position is filled by a Redwood Alumni, but this year, she has instead filled the position.
“I am so honored to be the stage manager this year, it has been a great opportunity to learn more about myself and learn more about theater in general,” Muller said.
In order for Muller to reach the position she is in now she has had to work hard. She said she has been working in theater since her 7th grade year.
Muller said, “Since 7th grade I have also been working backstage doing technical stuff. I work closely with the theater in town and I do theater type stuff with them.”
She used to act through her middle school years and she was in three shows, though fell in love with backstage work instead.
“I have been a light manager, back stage manager, assistant stage manager,” Muller said.
Muller realized she does not really like being in the spotlight and rather be behind the scenes.
Muller said, “I love being a stage manager of Damn Yankees. It’s kinda different than last year. For this musical it is way more work and energy put into it. I love it. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
Everyone involved is very excited to perform this musical on stage for family, friends, and the entire Visalia community.
“I think the musical is going really good. We have a great cast, and I am so blessed to work with such amazing, entertaining people. I’d like to thank Mrs. Galvan for the opportunity she’s given me and for the experience. I will forever be changed by the time I’ve spent with her these last four years, ” Muller said.
